Tractor-Trailer

UPS has both regional and long-haul jobs for tractor-trailer drivers. These drivers usually take freight to two or more distribution centers before returning home. To qualify for a tractor-trailer driving job with UPS freight, you should be 23.5 years old, hold a CDL with hazmat and twin trailer endorsements, have at least a year of OTR experience, be able to pass a background check and drug screening, and be mentally and physically able to do the job.

UPS Dedicated Drivers

Dedicated drivers for UPS usually carry freight for a single customer. In this job, you would run local, regional or long-haul routes for a single organization. You could carry different kinds of freight to different parts of the country. These drivers are usually on the road for one to five days at a time.

Dockworker

If you have a CDL with hazmat and trailer endorsements, but no actual driving experience, you can apply for a dockworker position. Dockworkers load and unload the freight either by hand or with a forklift. Sometimes dockworkers also make deliveries to customer sites. On those occasions, dockworkers wear the delivery uniform and are required to meet UPS appearance standards.

The UPS diesel mechanics maintain the fleet, and as such, the company prefers to hire mechanics with extensive fleet and diesel experience. Mechanics are required to have their own set of tools, and in many cases, they must be eligible to obtain a CDL.
